Our research is focused on
Biogeochemistry of trace metals. Fate and behaviour of pollutants. Bioaccumulation, bioavailability and trophic transfer of metals and mobilisation of metals associated to leakages from CO2 submarine storage systems.
Marine and freshwater ecotoxicology: Design and application of bioassays for ecotoxicity assessment employing freshwater, marine and estuarine organisms. Effects of emergent contaminants (pharmaceuticals , sunscreens and nanoparticles) on aquatic and sediment biota at different hierarchical levels, including -omics responses (transcriptomics and proteomics) in global change scenarios
Current projects (more details in CV)
- Change in the ecotoxicity assay paradigm for assessing environmental risk: from toxicity to habitat selection CGL2017-92160-EXP
- Emergent pollutants in coastal ecosystems:: Distribution and biological effects: from lab to field.
- Nanopartículas metálicas (Cu, Zn, Ce y Ti): biodisponibilidad, bioacumulación transferencia trófica, ecotoxicidad y riesgo asociado en organismos marinos y estuáricos
- Assessing and predicting effects on water quantity and quality in Iberian rivers caused by global change (CSD2009-00065)
